Where to find soothing balm aralon

The skill tree only uses 42 levels, the lowest of all the classes except for the rogue and the skills are pretty much attacks that cause more damage than previous levels. Paladin - this is one of my favorite classes to play. You can wear heavy armor and work with all of the swords but the Paladin also has some cool magic skills like divine restoration, sacrifice of blood, divine favor and aura of wrath.

The skill tree allows you to get into many different types of skills without a whole lot of prerequisites too. The skill tree has 44 steps to complete it. Killing Enemies - the Paladin has some of the best offensive skills for use against enemies too i. I almost always finish the game more quickly when playing the paladin because it is easier to kill enemies.

There are 41 steps on its skill tree to complete but there is not a lot of variety in the skills; rather, there is more depth in the ones you do have. This is one of two classes that allows you to double wield weapons. In this case, it is swords and they can make for some great combo moves once you get the timing right.

It is harder to block attacks, however, and I think it is the most vulnerable class, easiest to kill. Rogues cannot use heavy armor or shields but it doesn't have hardly any defensive protection just parry.

You really have to hope that you simply kill the enemy quickly or learn to parry effectively. Strong and Superb Toxins and Poisons - rogue is the only class to use toxins and poisons. To find strong and superb toxins and poisons, you must kill Kila in the Thieves Den, located in the Callaheim Sewers. This is the only place in the game, as far as I am aware, where you can get these particular weapons.

The only other place to get poisons and toxins are from Jasper Redhand, also in the Thieves' Den, and from the merchants in tents next to the entrance to the mountain pass to the Western Kingdom. Stealth - this class, along with the Ranger, can move with stealth.

The best hits I've found for Rogue are backstab hits. No matter what level you are, if you can attack an enemy with a backstab strike, it is a substantial blow. Ranger - also a great class and the only one to use a bow and arrow. You can also use any sword in the primary hand too and you have a stealth skill. The Ranger skill tree has 46 steps to complete and there are a good mix of skills.

There is a shadow wolf that can aid you in battle, which is very helpful, as well as ambush, skin of brambles which works both offensively and defensively , lightening strikes and fire arrows. Arrows - one of the problems with the ranger is the need to have arrows with you all the time. I stash arrows around the kingdoms so I have them when I need them. Note that once you reach the Outlands, there really isn't anywhere to purchase many arrows so go well prepared.

Mage - my favorite class to play. The Mage can only wear light armor and cannot wear shoulder armor at all, but it has several defense skills. You can fight with a staff but it is also easy to kill enemies with different offensive skills.

Also, by the time you reach the end of the skill tree, you are inflicting significant damage with each strike. If you are playing as a Mage, you must think carefully about which skills you choose to learn because there are 55 steps but you only have 49 levels to use.

I choose only to train one Firestorm because you already have a Fire Blast and I only train one part of three of the Ice Shield 2 because you already have an Ice Shield and the Armor of Air to protect you. Race - each race receives different types of loot throughout the Kingdom when you are playing.

Elves seem to fair the best for most classes, getting slightly better gear than humans and trolls in chests. Also, humans generally aren't as resilient or as agile from what I can tell so I almost always play as an elf. Trolls are toughest of all and seem harder to kill but are limited to being a warrior, paladin or rogue.

Please add to this list if I've left anything off!!! Sunberry Bushes - there are more sunberry bushes than any other plant in the kingdoms. There is one bush immediately outside Timbers Bend on the left side of the path and another across from the Old Mill in the opposite direction of the bridge.

After going through the gate past the Old Mill, there is another bush to the right of the gnoll cave that is on the left side of the screen. From this bush, if you go straight across to the river and cross it, there is a hill with another bush there is also a chest here too.

Returning back across the river toward the bridge close to Taryn Ridge, there is another path going left past the bust that leads to a small house. Before turning into the path leading directly to the small house, there is another sunberry bush across from the path.

The last bush is located behind the fence around the small house. After accepting this quest, I kill Othel Black. He is a friendly target and will not affect your legal status and his life number is only 4 so he is relatively easy to kill. This upgrades me two levels easily and he has gold plus some armor. Diluted Energy Potion - note that you can purchase a book from Raquel with the diluted energy potion recipe in it.

I don't think it is worth paying gold for this recipe because you hardly get any return from making or drinking it. Also, the value of a Willow Leaf is 10 gold whereas a diluted energy potion is worth only 7 gold. You actually lose gold by making the potion. The better choice for energy is to make Fish Broth discussed below.

When you kill Kargath, you will receive "Kargath's Sword," a claw blade that is a very effective weapon. There are also three chests in the Gnoll Cave, not including the loot you will receive from Kargath and his Gnolls. The house is located on a path on the left of the main path from Timbers Bend to Taryn Ridge. Speak to Elyssa and she will ask you to get her safely and quickly within 3 minutes to Taryn Ridge.

Cabinet Loot - there is no chest in Elyssa's house but there is a cabinet with loot in it and you can take it without fighting or becoming an outlaw.

Because the "Safe Journey to Taryn Ridge" is timed and you only have three minutes to complete it, you should take the loot before accepting the quest.

Note that you cannot complete this quest until at least at night you can tell what time it is according to the time on the map. Note that if Jarvis dies in the fight with Kyle Stronghand's followers, you cannot receive this quest.

Find Darius - given from Sufok and is the one with a glitch in it that allows you to collect gold from selling the grey stallion deed repeatedly see below. Note that this is part of the main quest and must be completed. This challenge is linked with "An Ambush for Ian. As mentioned immediately above, you can complete the A Stolen Jewel quest for Ian and then immediately come back and ambush Ian for Sirius. Gorak is on the second floor of the palace in East Callaheim.

This is part of the main quest and must be completed. You can choose to join one, two, three or none of the guilds. I like playing all the side quests so I join all the guilds. In each case, you must go upstairs in the headquarters to find the leader of the guild to inquire about joining. Knights of Aralon - you must speak with Garv Strongaxe to receive this guild's "I will join you" quest.

The quests associated with this guild are mostly related to the smuggling operation mentioned by Othel Black and there are four quests that ask you to fight enemies. There is a fifth quest but it only asks you to seek out another Captain Fargus in Cold Sands Keep to receive further quests. The Order of Magic quests require you to battle some gross animals but these challenges allow you the opportunity to make a lot of easy gold.

For example, the quest "A Deadly Web" requires you to get the spider silk of some giant spiders. There are many, many spiders you can kill easily and the silk is worth gold per spider.

I usually end up with extra webs, making me an extra gold. There are three quests to complete for the Order, including one that will give you a wolf mount Sisters of the Night. You will only receive two quests from the Guardians that require you to do something there is a third quest but it only requires you to seek out someone for further quests. However, there is the opportunity to level up and obtain some good armor and weapons with the Guardian challenges.

The Plan - this is the main quest of the game and you must complete it to finish the game. There are several quests within this title. Given by Gorak in the East Callaheim Palace. Speak with Queen Elenroh and learn about her death.

When you enter the tunnels, there are two corpses where you can obtain extra loot just like a chest. They look like skulls and when you get close to them they will have a green arrow above them.

The first is located down the path leading off to the left from the main path. The second is across from the Ancient Crypt where Queen Elenroh's tomb is located. First, the spirit warriors and ancient spirit in the Ancient Crypt are levels and will be close to your level when you enter here.

By the time you fight all of the warriors and the spirit, you will probably earn one level. I always complete this part of the quest before I seek out the Ancient Vampire so I will have an extra level under my belt and a little more skill and attribute strength.

The second way to level up quickly is to fight the Ancient Vampire. The Vampire is located at the end of the side path to the right of the main path facing the crypt in the sewers. The Vampire is a level 35 and is difficult to beat but is completely worth it to do so. You can get an excellent weapon and the defeat will cause you to level up at least one level, if not more.

Note - you can choose the weapon you want to obtain from the Vampire. You will get a good picture of what the weapon does when you are fighting him and if you don't particularly like that weapon, let the Vampire kill you. The next time you fight, he will have a different weapon in order to have this happen, you must choose to load a game from the menu, not continue last save.

The Vampire also regenerates so you can keep reusing the Vampire to level up and get different weapons. Given by Gorak in East Callaheim Palace. Talk to Darius to tell him what we have learned about Queen Elenroh's death.

Given by Darius in West Callaheim. Do some research in the East Callaheim library to determine how to break Merificus' hold over King Owyn. Potions Recipes - the library in East Callaheim is not only where you will find information about the Temple of Azra and the Scepter of Hammara but also the book Great Potions. This book contains recipes for quality energy, health and restoration potions.

Temple of Azra Spoiler Below - many people seem to have trouble with the Temple of Azra quest so I've included a detailed description of how to get through the Temple here. I hesitate to include it because it is so detailed and I strongly encourage everyone to try and get through the Temple on your own before resorting to this explanation. The Temple can be a lot of fun and you can get lots of gold and loot. Note that I haven't included fighting in all of the rooms in the Temple here.

You have the choice to fight in all of the rooms or not - I think it is always worth fighting in these rooms because you will receive great loot, including some health and energy potions, weapons and gold but it is your choice to fight in them or not.

Enter the Temple with the key obtained from Drake Island. After fighting two skeletons, go up the stairs into a large chamber. This is the temple first floor main room. Go down the passage on the left. At the end of this passage, climb down into a pit with fire and follow to the back corner of the room this corner will be on the same wall that the ladder you just came down on hangs on.

Turn the handle in the corner to open the gate that blocks off the hallway you just passed coming down into the fire pit. Go back to that hallway and follow it until it ends with another switch to turn. This switch opens the gate blocking the path above the fire pit you were just in.

Turn the switch and enter the hallway that was just unlocked using Helga's ring. Turn right at the end of the hall and follow the hallway to the end, where one room is located. Fight the skeletons in this room and collect the loot from the chest, which will include a Temple Key. Return to the first floor main room. From the first floor main room, go down the right side hallway right side if you are facing the statues and away from the stairs until you reach a closed gate.

Use the Temple Key to open the gate. Go through the hallway with the pendulums and fire pits. At the end of this hallway, enter the Temple Second Floor. Go down the hallway to the left it is the hallway that isn't blocked by a gate.

Follow the hallway to a room with a fire pit, pendulum and walkway winding upward. I find that it is easier to go through this room using Helga's Ring or a Greenfin Stew. It gives you more leeway with your movements and you are less likely to fall into the fire pit. Once you reach the top, enter the hallway and follow it to the end.

Enter the room, fight the skeletons and retrieve the Temple Key from the chest. Return to the second floor main room. Use the Temple Key on the gate blocking the hallway on the right side.

Follow the hallway to its end and enter the room there. Fight the skeletons and retrieve the loot from the chest in the room which will include a Temple Key.

Go up the stairs on the side opposite the ones you came down when you entered the second floor it is the side with the full body statues. Enter the Temple Third Floor. There is a hallway right in front of you in the main room. Go down this hallway until you reach the end. Turn to the left and enter the first room on the left. There is an obelisk in the room with a green arrow flashing over it.

Rotate the obelisk. Return to the third floor main room. From the main room facing away from the door you entered to reach the third floor , turn left and go down the hallway with the purple wall hanging on it.

Immediately to the left of the wall hanging, there is a hallway. Go down this hallway to the very end. This is very important - the room is hidden and you cannot see it until you are at the end of the hallway. Enter the room and rotate the obelisk. Treasure - apart from the chest you will receive for fighting the Ancient Lich, there are three other chests on the third floor.

I can only describe the location of two because I'm never exactly sure where the third is located and I must search for it every time I play.

Here are the locations of the other two:. From the main room facing away from the third floor entrance , go down the hallway immediately in front of you. At the end of the hallway, turn right. The chest will be on your left.

From the main room facing away from the entrance , turn right and go down the hallway. Turn right at the first hallway you encounter. Walk down this hallway until you reach the end.

Turn right and walk until you are approximately half way down. Turn down the hallway on your left and walk to the end of it. In a room on your right, there will be a chest. Return to the main room. From the main room facing away from the third floor entrance , go down the hallway in front of you. At the end of the hallway, turn right and go to its end.

Go through the gate on the left. There is a ledge there. From the ledge by the way, this is also a very good place to save your game , you must walk off the end of it. You can use Helga's Ring or a Greenfin Stew to make it a gentle descent. Even if you don't use the ring or stew, however, another ledge will appear beneath you. You must walk off the end of two more ledges until you reach the bottom. Stealth Attacks - like some other big fights you will encounter, you cannot use a stealth attack against the Ancient Lich.

Rear Attacks - the Ancient Lich has an attack it uses that will kill you instantly once it touches you. The key to staying alive and defeating the Lich are to get around it and attack from the side or back. Travel to Shadowspire and defeat Merificus. Note that if you take this challenge, you must complete it before finishing the tasks assigned by the Knights of Aralon. If you do those tasks before you finish Glittering Sapphires and the Necklace of Amethyst quests, Finneus will become an enemy and you will not be able to complete his challenges.

Necklace of Amethyst - given by Finneus Goldring after you have completed the "Glittering Sapphires" quest. As with the Sapphires quest, you must finish this quest before completing the quests assigned by the Knights of Aralon or you will turn Finneus into an enemy and you will not be able to complete the quest.

I never complete this quest because it asks you to kill Lord Telmon, which is a bad idea at first. Into the Mansion Quest - as part of the Knights of Aralon guild quests, you will be asked to obtain a key into the mansion in West Callaheim. Killing Luther is the main part of the A Reversal of Fortune quest so I believe it is worth taking the Deal Gone Sour quest to abandon so you can get the gold and experience from Lord Telmon's Reversal of Fortune quest.

There will not be an exclamation point over his head when you enter his home but you will be able to receive the quest depending on the answers you give to Lord Telmon once you start talking to him.

He is a friendly target so killing him will not affect your legal status, his level is fairly high so killing him will help you level up and he usually has a decent amount of gold and a good weapon or armor. Guild Quests - you will receive a key to the guild chests for all of the guilds you join, but the the only guild with any loot in it is the Guardians of Aralon chest! Each guild will give you quests to complete in order to move up the ranks of the guild and rid the Kingdoms of problems.

These challenges will help you level up steadily and acquire gold, weapons, armor, potions and other loot that can be invaluable as you go on to later challenges in the main quest. I've listed the guild quests here in ascending level order i. Corruption in Callaheim - given by Eckar in the Knights of Aralon. Note that you cannot complete this quest without looking at the message you retrieve from Nevin. Bear Hunting - given by Yiggdrin in the Guardians of Callaheim.

Note that there is the opportunity to make some extra gold here. There are at least six bears with superb pelts once you kill them. These pelts are worth gold each. I can usually make around extra gold by killing extra bears. Moreover, bear blood is worth 25 gold and I can usually make about extra gold from the blood. Missing Ingredients - given by Dersia in the Order of Magic. This quest requires you to obtain giant rat blood. The blood is worth 20 gold per rat killed and there are many more rats than the five you will need to complete this quest.

I usually come away with extra gold from the rats I kill. You cannot get this quest until you have completed "Corruption in Callaheim.

Into the Mansion - given by Eckar in the Knights of Aralon. You cannot receive this quest until you have completed the "A Meeting Disrupted" challenge. Luther has the key to the mansion that you must obtain before you can enter to complete the Mansion quest. He will give it to you if you complete the "A Deal Gone Sour," you can use the pickpocket skill if you are playing as a rogue or you can simply kill Luther. If you kill Luther, the Mansion key will be included as part of the loot on him.

You cannot get this quest until you complete the "Missing Ingredients" challenge first. There is the opportunity to make considerable gold in this quest by killing extra spiders and collecting their silk and venom. I usually come away with in extra gold from the spiders. Corpse - if you enter the Lair of the Spider Queen and defeat the queen, you can obtain loot from another corpse like the ones in the Old Tunnels off of the Callaheim Sewers. Go to the other side of her web from your entrance and jump down to the cave.

There is a corpse with loot inside. To get back out, go to the left side of the cave, walk on a strand of the web on the wall until it intersects with another strand that will take you right back to the place where you entered the Queen's web. Skybloom - there is a skybloom plant, which you need to make a quality energy or restoration potion, in the valley where the spiders are located.

It is on the side of the swamp land entrance behind a fallen tree close to the steep hill. You can collect blooms both before and after you enter the Lair of the Spider Queen. You only need one bloom to make a quality potion so you can get as many as you want, simply by entering and exiting the Lair.

You cannot obtain this quest until you have completed "Bear Hunting. These locations are in addition to the gnomes that are standing around Windspray Lake. You will be able to complete most of the kills required for the quest in the dark gnome cave but there is some excellent loot and the ability to level up with the second gnome location - the Dark Gnome Burrows. Five of them are straightforward and easy to find because they are simply sitting out in rooms of the cave where you will fight different gnomes.

The sixth chest is located in water in front of a waterfall. Once you reach the end of the Burrows, there will be a passageway leading to water and the waterfall. One Dark Gnome Assassin will be guarding it. The chest is located in the water on the left side prior to the actual waterfall. Unless you are playing the Rogue and can use the pickpocket skill, you will have to open the chest with an "Open Lock" skill. Each class has this skill and it is one that has already been completed when you start the game.

Skybloom - there is a skybloom plant to the left of the Dark Gnome Burrows if you are facing the Burrows. It is on the left side of a house at the top of a hill.

Like the skybloom in the valley where the giant spiders are located, you can get blooms off of the plant each time you enter and exit the burrows. Sisters of the Night - given by Dersia in the Order of Magic. You can complete this task before you receive it from Dersia if you so choose.

I complete this quest when I am completing the "Missing Ingredients" and "Dark Gnome Raiders" quests because it is easier to complete all of the quests in the Northern Kingdom at once rather than having to go back out into the wilderness another time, just to complete this one quest. Wolf Mount - if you kill Anaya, one of the Sisters of the Night witches, you will receive a wolf mount.

Skybloom - there is a skybloom close to the Sisters of the Night cave. Starting from the valley where the giant spiders are located, leave the valley by going up the short hill. At the top of this hill, the entrance to the mountain pass to the Western Kingdom and the tents next to it will be on the left.

Continue past these and down another hill. There will be a coven witch on the left and then one on the right there is also a ruined house. The skybloom is on the right side of the path prior to the ruined house but further from the path. This is the only guild quest that takes place outside of the Northern Kingdom, in the first outland. Chest - there is a chest to the left of the Smugglers' Cove that is hidden. If you enter the sand dunes and rocks on the hill above the Cove to the left of the cove if you are facing it , there is a chest guarded by four Smugglers.

He will always be an enemy to you afterward. Inside the Keep, there are three chests with great loot and close to gold that you can simply take. As you enter the Keep, the first chest is behind the second set of bunks on the left in the main room. The other two chests are in a back room down a hallway to the left of the main room.

Before heading out to do quests for the main or side quests, make sure you have stocked up sufficiently because there will be only two places in the Outlands to purchase supplies from a small shop in Karn and from Grokk the Goblin at the northernmost point of the first outland and each of these merchants only have a few items for sale.

Like the Border Wars quest above, this quest only asks you to seek out Warrek and speak with him. Warrek resides in Redrock Bay in the Western Kingdom. Transportation by Sea - if you want to travel quickly to Redrock Bay, you can travel by ship via the East Callaheim harbor. The cost is fifty gold but is a good way to avoid a lot of fighting getting to Redrock Bay otherwise. I do not complete this quest until I have completed all of the guild quests, the quest given by Warrek in the Western Kingdom and the "Rescue Gorak" quest given by Darius in West Callaheim.

The orcs you will be fighting in this quest are at least level 31 and as high as 37 Uthu. When you first travel into the first outland, the enemies you will fight e. By completing the quest from Warrek Minotaur King - levels , fighting the Rock Giants levels and the Corrupt Knights, Priestesses and Lord Valemar levels you will have progressed more steadily and the leveling up will be smoother. You will also have more attributes and loot to protect you. You cannot receive this quest until you complete "The Orc War" challenge.

I complete this challenge and the Orc War challenge together. This way, you only have to make one trip into the desert, saving time. Additionally, you don't have to worry about accidentally killing one of Captain Fargus' men and becoming an outlaw on this quest since you will be in the fortress alone. If you do become an outlaw, you cannot complete this quest and it will cost you in terms of leveling up.

Outland One Sand Outland Challenges - there is one quest given in the first outland and you can choose to complete it or not.

If you want the dragon to take you to Drake Island to retrieve the key to the Temple of Azra, you must complete this quest. There are several things you must do to complete this quest. Sunclaw's Tooth - on the beach south of Karn, there is a dead Drake carcass. One of Sunclaw's teeth is broken in the carcass and you must take the tooth. You may learn about the tooth from Katami in Karn too. Speak with Vierne - after you find the tooth, you must speak with Vierne in Karn.

Note - at this first meeting, she will not give you the soothing balm recipe. She simply tells you to seek out Sunclaw. Pick Yuma Plants - Yuma plans are necessary for the soothing balm as well as quality health and restoration potions. There are three yuma plants in the desert around Karn. The first is behind the shop and Vierne's hut a few yards into the desert. The second is next to two cacti a few yards behind Katami's hut in Karn. The third plant is several yards behind and in between the first two plants.

Each time you enter a hut or speak with Sunclaw, you will be able to collect more yuma plants. The restoration and health potions only require one plant each and it is worth picking as many plants as possible since the potions work well. Speak to Sunclaw - if you don't know about the tooth, he will not give you the soothing balm quest.

The quest is worth 1, gold and 4, exp. You need a superb health potion, which you can either get in Cold Sands Hold or in Karn at the shop next to Vierne's hut, and three yuma plants. Mix these together and you will create the balm. Take them back to Sunclaw and she will take you to Drake Island. Western Kingdom Challenge s - there are three quests in the western kingdom and one other challenge you may choose to pursue.

The Minotaur King - given by Warrek in his Western Kingdom house and worth 1, gold and 50, exp. Note that you cannot receive this quest without first completing the Speak with Warrek quest first. Fero Plants - there are two fero plants in the grass to the left and right of the path leading to the Minotaur Warrens. I have never been able to figure out what they are for because I have no crafting recipe that uses them but each pod I sell is worth gold so they are worth collecting.

This particular quest is one of the most difficult in the game to complete and I do not complete it until after I have defeated the Ice Elemental Queen, the Fire Elemental Kings yes, there are three kings , Sheba and retrieved Icefang's egg from the dragon Ashmore.

The crested axe you are searching for is in the swamplands in the Northern Kingdom. The entrance to the swamplands is in the valley where the giant spiders are located. Swamp Beasts - the swamp beasts in the swamp lands are, next to Merificus, Sheba and Icefang, the most highly leveled and some of the most difficult enemies to defeat. They are leveled at and they can spray a poison on you that is fairly detrimental to you, no matter how highly leveled you are. That's why you want to save this quest until later in the game when you have a fair chance of defeating the beasts.

Red Fern Plants - in order to make the strong health potion that Harl Windsin gave you, you must retrieve three red fern plants. These plants only grow in the swamplands and there are three plants in the swamp. Mid-Western Side Above Lake - The first is located on the western side of the swamp, in the middle between north and south. It is just above a lake this lake also has hidden treasure in it. Far Northeast Side on Incline - the second plant is located on a slight incline at the north end of a lake on the far east side.

Mid-Eastern Side - the last plant is located about halfway up the swamplands on the east side. There is no lake around it. Hidden Treasure - there are two hidden chests in the swamplands and they have some of the best, if not the very best, loot in the game.
